how does life goes so fast that i haven't blogged since august ??!!! what? that's crazy! new 8th grade classes - new content - daughter getting married in april (oh she got her first teaching job this year AT MY SCHOOL! - and she's awesome!) anywho - here it is the end of 2011 and whoaaa nelly!!

I'm afraid to wake up! This school year is like I imagined teaching would be when I taped my world map on the basement wall and played school! AWESOMELY AWESOME! We've got a great new bunch of energetic, young, eager teachers who are an inspiration - and the kids - oh the kids! Polite, smart little cookies that just make my day - everyday! I LOVE SCHOOL!

Just started reading Why Are All The Good Teachers Crazy? by Frank Stepnowski - WOW! He's hilarious and real! There's some language so goody-two-shoes need not read - but it's an honest portrayal of the life of a great teacher and what teaching's really like - check it out!

Ok so long time no write blog! A year of middle school under my belt - luv luv luv those kids! They taught ME something every day - made me chuckle - gave me a sense of wonder - miss them already!

well - it's been a while since i last posted! end of school year - you teachers know how that goes - and i'm still not done!

going back into the classroom after spending the past year as a social studies interventionist - position was changed from serving high school teachers at 4 high schools to serving teachers in grades 6 through 12 - aaaggghhhh! not for me! i missed the daily interaction with kids and the thrill of coming up with quirky ideas every day so I'M BACK!

hope everyone's summer is starting off with a bang! it is HOT!

Ok - so it's MONDAY and I'm finishing up our pacing guide for U.S. History! Although i did RELAX over spring break, read 4 novels, planted flowers and cleaned out my closet I would have loved Easter monday off! aaaggghhhh!

Found out about flocabulary.com - the coolest site - educational raps - yippee stuff! Ok! So i've flown to 5 states in 2 days! Got to see my sister in Salt Lake City - blessing in disguise - when all flights thru atlanta were canceled - sooooooo SC to OK to UT to MI to NC back to SC --whooaaa nelly! Bought my first pair of authentic cowboy boots in OK!! Learned some cool stuff while doing a teacher workshop in Tulsa!

Ok - soooooo let's talk BENCHMARK! The purpose of a benchmark is to see where you are - "where u at" as the kids say! The purpose of knowing "where we at" is so we can "git where we goin" - ergo . . . why do teachers hate benchmarks? They provide a valuable resource to determine where we need to spruce up our instruction. hmmmmm . . .

start a new job on august 4 for dorchester2! i will be a social studies interventionist working with teachers and students from all 3 high schools in dorchester2 district - i'll be "housed" at ashley ridge! boy do i have alot of moving to do from room 622 at the fort! YIKES!
